Virginia Beach Sheriff’s Office earns Virginia Values Veterans certification

Sheriff Ken Stolle is proud to announce that the Virginia Beach Sheriff’s Office has earned its Virginia Values Veterans (V3) certification.

The certification from the Commonwealth of Virginia recognizes the office’s commitment to recruiting, hiring, training and retaining Virginia veterans. The yearlong certification process involved completing six hours of training, creating a Veteran Hiring Plan and meeting a commitment to hire five veterans. The Sheriff’s Office exceeded that goal, hiring 16 veterans in the past year.

“The military provides professional, trained and experienced personnel who transition well into the role of sheriff’s deputy,” said Sheriff Stolle, who served as an intelligence officer in the U.S. Naval Reserve. “Veterans are an integral part of our workforce here.”

The initial certification is good for two years.

Of the Virginia Beach Sheriff’s Office’s 514 appointees, 198 have served or continue to serve in every branch of the military.

“The Virginia Values Veterans certification reaffirms what we have always known: that veterans are an essential part of the Virginia Beach Sheriff’s Office,” Sheriff Stolle said.
